Going Somewhere?

Many of us have conversations about going places. We often brag about, unintentionally, the places we want to go and what we plan to do when we get there. For some people, the conversation about going somewhere is as far as it goes. The tickets are never purchased, the reservations are never made, or the vacation time or PTO is never requested.

If you genuinely plan to go somewhere, it starts with a decision. I was watching TV and working on a project one evening (yeah, I know, multitasking) when I saw our son making quite a few moves. I noticed he had taken all the suitcases out of the closet. When I asked what he was doing, he said he was packing his things. I asked if he planned on going anywhere, and he said he was getting his things ready.

I was intrigued by the thoughts of a six-year-old who already understands life is about going paces. Although he had not decided where he was going, he knew he would need to be prepared if he were going somewhere. Ironically, he did not wait until the day of to start packing, but he was going to make sure that all he needed to do was grab his suitcase and go. I couldn't help but notice again that he had pulled out the suitcase that would fit his things and pulled out two large suitcases that would accommodate the increase he apparently expected.

For some, this confirms that it is time for you to decide to get going. You have been toying around with the idea, and you know there is something more for you. However, due to fear, doubt, and past defeats, you have put your suitcases back in the closet and decided to stay put. My dear friend, it's time to let go of the past and embrace the places and people ready for you to show up. So, pack your things (get your larger suitcases too) and get ready not only to go but also for more!
